Artist Statement

I grew up next to a mountain. My favorite thing as a kid was opening the window and letting the wind in, watching the evening light throw the shadows of trees and flowers across the wall. That quiet feeling, where nothing needs to be explained, is probably what I've been chasing in my work ever since. The other thing I did a lot was flip a plastic tub upside down, pretend it was a wok, and use different colored shampoos and body washes as different colored batters to cook oyster omelets. Dead serious about it, too. I think making art has always been an extension of that: take something real, change one of its rules, and commit fully to the new version. Each work starts with a "what if?" What if you could control falling leaves with your hands? What if you could talk to a plant? What if a digital ecosystem breathed like a real one? I use technology to build that question into a space people can walk into and stay for a while. The technology stays hidden. I don't want you to know how the algorithm works. I want you to forget you're inside an installation. If the wind and light outside look a little different when you leave than when you walked in, that's enough.

Ke Jyun Wu (b. 1992, Taiwan) is a media artist working across interactive installations, fulldome films, and physical-digital hybrid experiences. His ongoing Digiscape series builds immersive spaces around "what if?" questions drawn from personal encounters with the world — hiding precise technology behind quiet, atmospheric fields that shift how audiences perceive their surroundings. His work has been presented at the Venice International Film Festival, SAT Montréal, Cité des sciences et de l'industrie Paris, and C-LAB Taipei, among others.

Long Version

</aside>

Ke Jyun Wu (b. 1992, Taiwan) grew up beside mountains, where his favorite thing was opening the window and letting the wind in. That impulse — to let something quiet and alive enter a space — runs through everything he makes. Working across interactive installations, fulldome films, and physical-digital hybrid environments, Wu builds immersive spaces around "what if?" questions. Each begins with a real moment that struck him: undersea light refractions while snorkeling, the shock of colored glass in a cathedral, the discovery that plants carry bioelectric signals. He rewrites one rule of ordinary reality, then constructs a space where that new rule holds. His ongoing Digiscape series (2019–present) is the primary vehicle for this practice. Technology is engineered to disappear; the audience encounters atmosphere, not apparatus. A recurring quality in his work is the tension between stillness and movement — long stretches of quiet restraint giving way to sudden release at the moment of interaction. The result feels simultaneously gentle and vast, intimate yet awe-inducing. His work has been exhibited at the Venice International Film Festival, SAT Montréal, Cité des sciences et de l'industrie Paris, C-LAB Taipei, Pingshan Art Museum Shenzhen, and Dome Fest West, among others. He is based in Taipei.
